If you're taking time off work from your Toronto event caterer job and planning a trip to the great state of Texas and your travel itinerary doesn't include making a stop at the Alamo then you better re-write your travel itinerary. No trip to Texas is complete without a visit to The Alamo so you better make sure to make room on your travel itinerary so that you don't go home without taking advantage of all the fine attractions Texas has to offer.

How can you not want to visit an attraction that is home to 2.5 million unique visitors each and every year? Those 2.5 million people can't be wrong, can they? Probably not, which is why you will want to head on down to The Alamo during your Texas vacation. History says that the Alamo is the site of the famous 13-day stand between a small group of Texans and the General Antonio Lopez de Santa led Centralist army.

Even though the Texan defenders that stood up for the Alamo would eventually fall and lose the battle on March 6, 1836 it doesn't make us forget what they valiantly fought for. Their deaths were a symbol of bravery, loyalty and courage in the name of freedom and liberty. The infamous words "Remember The Alamo," which you've probably heard uttered in your condo in Yorkville, will always resonate with people who believe in the right to freedom.

How could you not want to come to see the original sight of the Alamo after knowing what you know now with the historical knowledge we've presented you? Is staying in your hotel reading food product launches reports going to keep you from re-living history? We hope? The Daughters of The Republic of Texas, who have been taking care of the Alamo since 1905, sure hope not. The 4.2-acre complex is in their command and that includes the three main buildings that are located on the ground of the Alamo: the Shrine, Long Barrack Museum and Gift Museum.

Things you can do during your visit to The Alamo include taking in Texas history and Texas revolution exhibits, walking through The Alamo Gardens or viewing an IMAX showing of Alamo: The Price of Freedom. Of course any visit to the Alamo isn't complete without a stop at the gift shop, where you can buy items such as Alamo fort and soldiers toy sets and coonskin caps for any friends, family members or Ontario home builders you work with.

The best part about visiting the Alamo is that admission is free but donations are always welcome as they help maintain the upkeep of the Alamo. Hours of operation are 9AM to 5:30PM everyday except Sunday when it's open from 10AM to 5:30PM. The only days the Alamo is closed are Christmas Eve and Christmas day. We sure hope you've re-written your Texas travel itinerary before leaving your Moore Park Toronto homes to include a stop at the Alamo!
